McPete’s and A.B.A.T.E. Support Big Brothers Big Sisters Program

BIG LAKE, MN (November 13, 2018) –

Big Brothers Big Sisters recently hosted their annual fall fundraiser, Bowl For Kids’ Sake, at McPete’s Sports Bar & Lanes in Big Lake.

McPete’s has been a generous host of this event for over 20 years and donates the use of the facility so that the funding raised can go directly towards supporting kids.

The Lake Chapter of A.B.A.T.E. in Minnesota has a long-standing history with this event. A.B.A.T.E., which stands for American Bikers for Awareness, Training, and Education, strongly supports motorcycle safety training and promotes motorcycle awareness programs. In addition, the group has a charitable gambling license and often helps out local programs, like Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Michelle and Mark Backlund, members of the Lake Chapter of A.B.A.T.E, were integral in bringing the Bowl For Kids’ Sake fundraiser to Sherburne County. Michelle Backlund states “Lake Chapter of A.B.A.T.E. of Minnesota has been participating in Bowl For Kids’ Sake for over 20 years. In the process of having fun, we have raised over $50,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters.”

All funding raised from this event supports the kids in our community by pairing them with positive, carefully-screened mentors.
